Through the Windshield:
A Look at Upcoming Events

The 1935 Hudson Terraplane will be making an appearance at the Philadelphia International Auto Show later this month. It will be one of the classics that are on display at the Burn Foundation booth that promotes awareness of the upcoming Concours de Elegance in May at Skytop Manor.

Our staff is working diligently to reassemble the body, fabricate and install the interior and finish up the buffing and polishing of the new paint.

The Terraplane will also be on display at the AACA Annual Meeting, which is scheduled for February 10-23 at the Center City Sheraton in Philadelphia. We’ll be there as a vendor.

We’ll also be a vendor at the Atlantic City Classic Car Show and Auction February 18-20. Stop by and check out the 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner we’ll have on display.

In the Shop ...

We’re off to a great start in 2011. All of our departments are busy with interesting projects as we look toward the spring.

The metal shop is working on a Euro-spec XJS, a Porsche 912 and a Gullwing Mercedes. The painters recently finished a Phantom V Rolls-Royce and will soon be putting their expertise to work on a BMW 503 and a 1941 Cadillac Convertible

In the Mechanical department, finishing touches are being applied to the Hudson Terraplane and the Road Runner, as well as an SS Impala convertible and a 1940 Chevy sedan. Next up for the Interior Shop is a ‘55 Chevy Belair and a new top for a 1917 Mitchell.

The Hudson Terraplane is being readied
for the Philly Auto Show.

Employee Spotlight:
Lead Mechanic Terry Gillis

Terry’s love affair with cars began at a very early age, thanks to the mentorship of his father and a neighbor. By age 16, he was totally involved in the muscle car scene that stretched through the 1960’s and early 70’s. Terry made his first engine swap at age 17 by converting a 6-cylinder ‘54 Chevrolet to accept a hot Chevy V8.

Terry started his professional career after attending Spring Garden Institute and receiving his degree in Automotive Technology, including specialties in auto body and mechanical. He was able to use his love of muscle cars and experience in tuning to lead to a successful business for 30 years: Terry Gillis Automotive in Perkasie.

Terry brings his skills and knowledge to Pollock Auto Restoration as our lead mechanical technician.

SEMA Sets July 8 as
“Collector Car Appreciation Day”

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Councils have announced July 8, 2011 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day.”

The date marks the second commemoration in what will become an annual event to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.  SEMA and its councils are now working to secure a Congressional resolution to recognize the day’s significance.

Hard-to-Find
Vintage Auto Parts for Sale

Our 26,000-square-foot shop in Pottstown has turned out to be a treasure trove of old parts. It seems like every day we find another stash of parts hidden in a corner of the building.

In some cases, we can identify the part and put it to good use. But in the vast majority of them, the application is unknown – we simply don’t know what car these parts go with. And that’s a shame, because we know there are owners out there frustrated as they scour the Earth for these hard-to-find parts.

“We want to put the parts back into the hands of people who can use them,” says Pollock owner Mike Engard.

Check out our selection of vintage auto parts. We might just have the one you’ve been looking for!
