1967 Volkswagon Beetle Headed Home

by: Ross Belovich, Shop Manager

This 1967 Volkswagen Beetle is going home. The owner has had this car since he was a teenager and it has become part of his life. He courted his wife in this car! Over the past couple years, Pollock Auto Restoration has performed a complete, ground up, concours level restoration. As you can see in the pictures, extensive metal repair was required and every component was restored to new or better condition. It is fortunate that the owner is so fond of his car, as it now has been reborn and it has long life ahead of it!

2017 Model A Restorers Club Meet - Gettysburg, PA

by: Kim Spiece

July 30th to August 3rd, Pollock joined in with the Model A Restorers Club for their National Meet held at the Wyndham Hotel in historic Gettysburg, PA. Hub City Model A Ford Club hosted the event this year. We participated in the flea market vendor area while still enjoying several hundred Model A's in the parking area. They had several functions that participants could attend including guided tours of historic Gettysburg Battlefields, Hickory Bridge Farm, the Hubley Derby Race, seminars, swap meet, and fashion show. The weather was a bit steamy but a little breeze made it bearable. I will say for myself the most fascinating thing I learned was that there were 37 different body styles during the 4-year production run of the Ford Model A. I was also surprised at what goes into the 'Fine Point Judging' that shop owner, Michael Engard participated in. We showed a 1929 Towne Sedan that garnered a 'First Place' in this particularly tough event.

When the Past Meets the Future…
The Cadillac LaSalle Club Grand National - Mclean, VA

by: Dave Hutchison

Early in August we packed up the 1941 Cadillac Model 62 convertible coupe, that was restored at Pollock a couple of years ago, and headed south to the Cadillac & LaSalle Club Grand National Meet held this year in McLean, VA. Anybody who knows the area, knows it is very busy in Tyson Corner as the host hotel, the Hilton, was located right next to the beltway around Washington, D.C. Once we arrived we were taken care of by Ronnie Hux, the Grand Chair of this event that was hosted by the Potomac and Valley Forge Regions of the CLC. His army of friendly volunteers assisted as we carefully unloaded the ‘41 Caddy, or “Ruby” as she is known by the Lea family from Boyertown, PA. Ruby was there making an appearance to show off the talents of our restoration staff back at the shop and that she did as many came by to admire her beauty.
Once set up, Charlene and I wandered through the parking lots to see what was to be the beginnings of rather large collection of Cadillacs and LaSalle cars. Car owners returned from tours to share their stories of the many events that ran through the entire week. On Friday, we saw many owners from the Valley Forge Cadillac & LaSalle Club including Cliff Woodbury, Bud Colman, Paul Lang and Woody Rohrbach who all brought cars for the show. The Philadelphia area participation was strong and we met many people from all over the country. The cars kept pouring in as the day got longer.
On Saturday morning the parking lots were full as Cadillac’s from 1903 to present day were all lined up in their respective classes. There was only one early brass era, a nickel car from the twenties and several grand classics from the 30s, and a very good showing of LaSalle from the mid 20's to 1940. Then the fifties cars as chrome and tailfins were everywhere! Elvis even made an appearance in a pink Cadillac and a replica of the latest Ghostbusters ambulance was there too! So many cars from the 60's and 70's right up to the present day were in attendance. Some very nice resto-mods including the 1947 Custom Woody Wagon you see here in pictures.
This event turned out to be one of the largest Grand Nationals the club has hosted in its 59 year history with 330 registered cars, 1072 people and 217 first time attendees! Cars and owners came in from 37 states, 8 countries including, Peru, Germany, France, Canada and one proud owner of a 1964 Sedan de Ville shipped his car over 1000 miles to Miami from Curacoa Island, and driven to Washington DC! The owner, Clifford Muskus. and his son Cilford were presented the Long Distance Award at the awards banquet. Best of Show LaSalle went to a handsome 1939 convertible coupe owned by Dennis Bucholz, the  Best of Show pre-war went to a 1942 Cadillac Club Coupe entered by Steve Cooley and the Best of Show post-war went to a 1958 convertible coupe owned by Donald Ghateeb.
The President of Cadillac, Johan de Nysschen gave a very passionate talk at the awards banquet about the history and future of Cadillac. He was proud to mention that he drove down from New York to DC and never touched the steering wheel!  He was brought in from Audi where he was responsible for turning that company around and he has big plans for Cadillac. With a strong sense of conviction he believes with Cadillac’s recent investment of 18 billion dollars, the company is now poised once again be the premier American luxury brand! They are ready to fight for their market share and they will take it back from BMW and Mercedes! He announced that starting in 2018 Cadillac will release a new model every quarter for two years and we will see cars that will represent the finest in engineering and design! It’s definitely not going to be your grandfather’s car anymore! Time will tell. We wish them luck. It was a great event with very interesting and passionate car people. Next years’ annual CLC Meet is in Central Texas…

54th Annual Das Awkscht Fescht - Macungie, PA

by: Kim Spiece

I have to say I have never attended Das Awkscht Fest (The August Festival) in Macungie. I was very surprised by the well over 1000 vehicles that were in attendance in the 3-day show. We provided a booth with information on Pollock Auto Restoration in the flea market area and displayed our 1958 Chevy Impala and 1929 Ford Model A Town Sedan. There were also over 30 car clubs in attendance. It was very exciting for a "Car Girl" like me to see so many models at one location. I got to walk around passing out flyers and snapping as many photos as I could. You are more than welcome to find me on Facebook and look at my albums posted there.

New Hope Automobile Show 2017

by: Kim Spiece

Regardless of only being held as a one-day event due to construction at the high school, The New Hope Auto Show still filled the parking lots and grassy areas with plenty of different brands and models to choose from. Saturday, they used for their traditional New Hope Vintage Car Road Rally. The car show itself is celebrating its 60th year, continuing the tradition of judging a variety of sports cars and other vehicles; foreign and American all in one day. It represents a summer weekend of good times and good cars.
The many cars that attended made it very difficult again to choose a few out of several hundred. I hope you enjoy my picks.

Perkasie Under the Stars Car Show

August 19th

by: Kim Spiece

It was a beautiful evening in a picturesque setting with a cool breeze blowing, to see the fantastic spectacle of vehicles centered in the heart of Perkasie. I've attended this event many times over the years and it still is one of my favorite shows to go to. It's not an overly huge show, but it is well attended with as many as 500-600 cars. You slowly progress through several streets lined with all sorts of hot rods, classic cars, antiques, motorcycles and trucks. You get to see a wide variety which is what I like when I attend a show; you are not seeing the same vehicles over and over again.  I'm not in a rush to go anywhere, just to cruise on through, chatting to anyone who wants to have a conversation and of course it’s usually about the cars.  This event seems to grow a bit more each year, so who knows, we may have to take over the entire town, which is ok with me!
Pollock Auto Restoration is here to help keep your car running at its peak during this busy summer and fall driving season.
